PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The doctoral degree program in International Business Law and Diplomacy is a three-year program, which consists of courses and seminars. The program offers to students the following:

  1. Acquirement of knowledge in the field of international business law through international trade law, international investment law, EU internal market law, international business and contract law, international arbitration, theory and practice of international relations and economic diplomacy
  2. Development of academic skills for independent scientific research in international business law
  3. Development of teaching skills and knowledge
  4. Acquirement of current knowledge in the given scientific field, as well as presenting the results of scientific research at national and international scientific conferences
  5. Advancement and personal development for future significant contribution to the overall development of society

STUDENT LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Doctoral students will have an important opportunity to acquire both theoretical and practical training with an international dimension
  2. Doctoral students will acquire the skills of writing necessary to begin careers as legal scholars
  3. Doctoral students will deepen and enhance their knowledge of international economic and business law issues, qualifying them for academic and research positions and international research cooperation
  4. Doctoral students will gain intellectual initiative and independence and an ability to bring a significant theoretical and practical contribution to their understanding of legal issues in the area of international business law
  5. Doctoral students will gain training and experience in teaching with the intention of gradually preparing them for independent teaching
  6. Doctoral students, as doctoral researchers, will facilitate a research culture both within and outside of the University in which they are full and active participants

The doctoral degree program in International Business Law is primarily designed for people aiming to continue their career in the academic environment or research roles in law or related fields. Nevertheless, people employed in the civil service, international and NGO sector and private sector who are working in legal and other jobs which require relevant knowledge of international business and economic law should also benefit from this doctoral program in their consulting and knowledge sharing expertise. Upon graduation, doctoral students will acquire EU, Turkey and BiH accredited diplomas.

Candidates who meet the requirements of this program and successfully defend their doctoral dissertations are awarded an AUBiH doctoral degree. The title acquired upon successful completion of all academic courses and defense of the doctoral dissertation:

The doctoral degree program in International Business Law and Diplomacy is a challenging program which offers high-level specialization and training in both the theoretical and practical aspects of international business and trade law. International business and trade law involves the international and domestic law applicable to international business transactions between private parties, as well as the international law applicable to trade and investment relations between or among states. The program prepares doctoral students for either academic and research careers or for executive positions in the public or private sectors.
