Come to Bosnia and Herzegovina and see why so many have fallen in love with the heart-shaped land!
WHY STUDY IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA?
Bosnia and Herzegovina is the heart-shaped land that lays in the heart of southeast Europe. It is here that eastern and western civilizations met, sometimes clashed, but more often enriched and reinforced each other throughout its long and fascinating history. Bosnia and Herzegovina, with its beautiful geography, rich history and kind people, is one of the most amazing places in the world. There are many monuments, historic sites and proofs of human existence in this region since the earliest times. Many tourists come to Bosnia and Herzegovina to enjoy its rivers, mountains, lakes, remote villages and urban city centers. Cuisine in this part of the world is healthy and tasty, including many organic choices.
WHY STUDY AT AUBiH?
American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH) is an American-accredited institution that uses an American-style of education. The language of instruction is English. Students will be able to easily transfer academic credits earned at AUBiH to their home institutions. AUBiH can serve as a traveling hub to Eastern and Western Europe since the most beautiful European cities (Budapest, Vienna, Istanbul, Rome, etc.) are one hour of flying away from Sarajevo. AUBiH local students are eager to meet new colleagues from oversees, show them the city and countryside and make life-long friendships.
AUBiH is accredited in the United States of America by the Accrediting Council for Independent Schools and Colleges (ACICS). ACICS was founded in 1912. It is the largest national accrediting organization of degree granting institutions. ACICS accredits institutions offering bachelor or master's degrees in programs designed to educate students for professional, technical and occupational courses, and is one of two national accreditors recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). More information about ACICS can be found at www.acics.org.
TRANSFER OF US OR ECTS CREDIT HOURS
Transfer of US and ECTS credit hours from universities in the United States, Europe or elsewhere is done from accredited institutions. - Official transcript(s) sent directly from the colleges/universities where the courses were taken
- Detailed syllabi and course descriptions from the colleges/universities for each course
Evaluation of transcripts, syllabi and course descriptions is done by the Evaluation Committee of the AUBiH Academic Department.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADMISSIONS
Students who wish to spend one or two semesters at AUBiH before returning to their home universities are welcome to apply as visiting students. Admission decisions for visiting students are based on current academic records. Study Abroad and International Students must pay the mandatory $100 fee before the semester commences. Before you leave, take notice! You can’t assume your insurance will go with you when you travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina. It’s very important to find out BEFORE you leave your country whether or not your medical insurance will cover you overseas. You need to ask your insurance company two questions:
- Does my policy apply when I’m out of the United States? (or whatever country you are from)
- Will it cover emergencies like a trip to a foreign hospital or a medical evacuation?
