AUBiH students won third place at the AS Innovation Challenge

During the last month, AS Group companies continued working with young people. The AS Innovation Challenge competition for innovators from 18 to 25 years of age was held on December 7 and 8, 2018 in Jelah. The aim of the competition was to give young people the opportunity to try to solve real business challenges with their ideas and creativity and to improve themselves in the areas of their interest through practical work. The best competitors received cash prizes, and they were given the opportunity to do internship in the AS Group companies.

After winning the first place at the Vispak Innovation Challenge competition, which took place in Visoko in October this year, students of the second year of the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH) Ajla Mušanović and Ena Duraković, who then represented the Innovation Team, together with their colleague Adin Mulaahmetović won the third place in the category Master Petit Cookie - Differentiation Strategy in Relation to Competitors as well as a cash prize of 500KM at this month's competition of the AS Group.

The competition was tough, and two business challenges needed to be addressed. The first was a digital campaign for salty sticks Kent, and the second one was the differentiation strategy in relation to competitors for Master Petit Cookie.

-Due to engagement in another project, our team member Selma Numic was not with us this time, but Adin Mulaahmetovic joined us. We offered a solution for Master Petit Cookie - Differentiation Strategy in Relation to Competitors, and after a detailed evaluation of the commission we won the third place, says Ena.

For the concept of innovation and response to the challenges, based on the guidelines of the committee of the AS Group, the participants were required to record a short video, post it on YouTube, and then present it to the committee.

The preparation of the idea for this competition and recording of the video lasted for 2 weeks. Talking about the project, Ajla explains:

-The competition was educational, fun and well organized. The tasks were specific and concrete, and the solutions had to fulfill specific goals that the jury analyzed and evaluated. I am extremely glad that we won the third place in this kind of competition.

Their colleague Adin believes that participation in competitions like this one is a good thing for testing one’s skills, while the opportunity to do internship is an excellent introduction to the business world.

-We acquired a lot of theoretical knowledge at the university, but we also did practical things. Winning the first and third place in these competitions is proof that we are on the right track to become experts in the areas of our interest after we complete the internship and graduate. We are grateful to our professors because, after testing our skills in a serious competition, we are convinced that they teach us the right things and prepare for the real business world.

The team of the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina congratulates its hard-working and creative students on remarkable achievements and wishes them a lot of luck in future competitions and their careers.
