American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH) and the European Center for Security Studies "George C. Marshall "(GCMC) in late January this year have agreed on content and mutually exchanged signed copies of the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The leaders of the two institutions, Mr. Denis Prcic, Chairman of the Board of the AUBiH and General Keith Dayton, Director of GCMC, have agreed on a preliminary term of the gala ceremony of the signing of the MoU at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the seat of GCMC, for March 15th, 2013.
The European Center for Security Studies "George C. Marshall" is a globally recognized institution in the area of international security and defense studies, which promotes dialogue and understanding between the countries of North America, Europe, Eurasia and beyond. Center was established in 1993, with headquarters in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. GMCM for over two decades promotes the vision, ideals and goals of the creators of the famous "Marshall Plan", whose name it bears very successfully. "This memorandum establishes the modalities of academic cooperation between the two institutions. AUBiH and GCMC thus enlarge the space for specific incentives to the high quality academic projects in the areas of safety, particularly in combating terrorism and political violence at the global level", Mr. Esmir Ganic, the President of the AUBiH pointed out.
The Memorandum provides for mutual study visits, thematic seminars, workshops and similar activities, and further on the exchange of lecturers and academic experts to participate in certain surveys. In addition, the MoU opens the possibility of scholarships, student exchanges and mutual production and use of academic journals and other professional publications in English.
Also, with the implementation of the MoU, the AUBiH will have access to a unique database of expert analysis that GCMC owns in the field of cooperative security at the regional, European and broader international level.
