Northwest Normal University from China and the Confucius Institute visited AUBiH

Delegations of the Northwest Normal University (NNU) from China and the Confucius Institute visited American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH) on December 20, 2018 (Thursday).

The NNU delegation was led by President Liu Zhongkui, Director of the Department for International Cooperation and Exchange Quan Xiaohui and Head of the Department for International Cooperation Sun Mei.

-Snow is a herald of good harvest. We were welcomed by snow in Sarajevo and we hope that everyone will reap good results from this cooperation. The Chinese language school is the first step, and we will soon devise a clear plan of joint action, said dr. Zhongkui.

The AUBiH delegation consisted of Rector Mirsad Đonlagić, President Denis Prcić, and Esmir Ganić, Director of the American School of Economics.

-AUBiH is the only accredited institution of higher education in South East Europe that offers American education. International cooperation is extremely important to us. We want to attract more students from abroad and establish stable scientific cooperation with universities outside BiH. We expect to launch a wider cooperation with NNU next year, including exchange of students and professors, said dr. Đonlagić.

The meeting was also attended by the director of Confucius Institute La Weixin and professors of Chinese language Ning Zhenye and Kong Jing.

-The Confucius Institute was founded in 2015 with the support of NNU. Many people visited our institute, and the signing of this agreement on cooperation with AUBiH is our great honor, said Weixin.

AUBiH President Denis Prcić pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a rich past, and that due to many circumstances, our country had the opportunity to meet Chinese, but also other cultures.

-I studied Chinese philosophy and read Sun Tzu; China is not unknown to me. I want our students to promote their cultures and become the ambassadors of our countries. We begin cooperation with the establishment of a Chinese language school, and we expect student and professor exchanges next year.
