I am impressed with AUBiH students
Mr. Roy Gutman, an internationally known and respected journalist, visited the Campus of the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBIH) on April 8th 2010. He used his visit to Sarajevo to speak with AUBiH's freshman (first) and sophomore(second) year students.
In a two-hour conversation, Mr. Gutman and the students discussed the problems and difficulties with which Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is currently struggling.
Our students' responses and ability for an open dialogue were a pleasant suprise for Mr. Gutman. The students expressed their views regarding the current situation, and specifically highlighted corruption as one of the gravest problems in our society.
They also placed emphasis on problems related to higher education, such as recent scandals which have shaken the foundations of some public universities. Mr. Gutman learned about the academic activities and advantages of AUBIH.
Mr. Gutman has been a journalist for many years and worked as a war reporter in BiH. His work in BiH earned him a prestigious Pulitzer prize. Additionally, he is this year's winner of 'The Key to the City of Sarajevo Award' which is awarded to prominent and deserving individuals.
